Why should this person be nominated? (What makes nominee unique; why should they be selected the winner of this category?
Dr. Brian Boyd is the Medical Director of Palliative Care Team at St. Joseph Home Health and St. Joseph Hospital. He also serves on the Ethics Oversight Committee and is an advocate for educating physicians and patients about their rights through the use of Physician Order for Life Sustaining Treatment (POLST). The patient population at St. Joseph Hospital is largely senior and Dr. Boyd assists these patients and their families to discuss and clarify goals at the most crucial times in a person's life. He advises them of the choices that they have and honor their wishes for compassionate quality of life.


What is this nominee’s involvement in senior care or senior issues
Dr. Boyd is the ultimate patient advocate. He works with a multidisciplinary care team to support the patient choice and works to provide the best quality of life. Dr. Boyd works tirelessly with these elderly patients and their families to connect them with the appropriate support services for optimal transition back to the community. Dr. Boyd treats them each with dignity and respect, as if they were his own family. We are blessed to have him as part of our care team!
