Kim Cooper

Why should this person be nominated? (What makes nominee unique; why should they be selected the winner of this category?
Kim began her nursing career in 1984 at LACUSC Medical Center. In 1994, after she had her son, she decided to enter the arena of home health. She knew it was the way of the future and wanted to be proactive in providing quality care in the healthcare system. She now works for Hygieia Home Health and is very proud to be a part of their team. David Zalopany, the owner, has continued to be creative and innovative in order to keep the agency thriving for 17 years. Having Kim working for him has been part of that success.

What is this nominee’s involvement in senior care or senior issues
I met Kim through a mutual friend whom also works in the health care industry. I had heard such wonderful things about her dedication and sincere concern to help the seniors she serves. I thought, I must meet this lady.... Well it was all true! She gave me the warmest welcome and I felt an instant connection. She was sincere and wanted to know how we can work together so that we can provide resources to our senior community. I told her that together we can make a difference... They say that one must try not to get attached to their patients but that has been no easy task for Kim. She has "adopted" many of her patients and their families as "grandparents" and friends. I believe it is her unconditional love that she displays to her patients that encourages them to regain their strength to a healthier way of living.

I asked Kim what she enjoyed most about her job and this is what she said...

"I believe it to be a privilege to provide such specialized care to patients right in their own homes. My greatest reward is their appreciation and their progress back to health and independence."

Kim often speaks highly of her son Kyle, who is now 18, an Eagle Scout and college bound for an Engineering degree....brainiac! On her off time, she enjoys spending her time with son going on trips, camping, delving on home improvement projects, and sports. If she is not sharing her love and kindness at work, she is sharing it at home.

It has been a great pleasure working with Kim. She has a heart of gold and is very dedicated to sharing her kindness with others.
