Why should this person be nominated? (What makes nominee unique; why should they be selected the winner of this category?
Janet is the mother of five grown children. Janet is actively involved in the lives of all her children and is a frequent babysitter for her two adorable grandkids. When Janet is not busy caring for her immediate family, she is caregiver to the world!

In addition to Janet providing compassionate and highly professional care for her patients and families at Kaiser Permanente; she is the primary caregiver for her mother-in-law, her elderly and ill Aunt and several other elderly and frail life long friends. Janet does all this care giving without complaint and with a spirit of service and selflessness.

Janet is a born teacher and loves her role at a local college where she teaches nursing students at night. She has a lifetime commitment to teaching best practice nursing to others. Janet approaches each person for whom she provides care with a deep attitude of respect and it shows.

Janet has been in the field of Hospice for more than 30 years. She started her career in healthcare as a teenager volunteering at St. Francis Medical Center and serviced in the Army as a reservist. She is famous for describing to families what happens when their loved one's pain , at end of life, is finally treated effectively. She says, "You'll be able to tell when the pain is managed; your loved one will be melting into the pillow." So many families and patients have been comforted by this lively, loving red headed nurse who can walk faster down a hospital hallway than anyone I've ever seen. She is a tireless advocate for comfort for those who are suffering. Some call her an angel and a saint.
