Why should this person be nominated? (What makes nominee unique; why should they be selected the winner of this category?
Angie is a Care Manager at Horizon Support Services In-Home Care. She previously owned her own home care company for 17 years. She obtained her certification in Gerontology at California State University Long Beach. She has given many hours of time participating in events and committees for organizations that serve seniors and their families. Angie recognizes that the elderly population is often taken advantage of. In efforts to educate and protect them, she has given many presentations and educational workshops to professionals and the community on the risks and questions to ask when hiring private caregivers. Angie does much more than provide caregiver services. She recommends and coordinates with outside resources that may benefit the clients and families to ensure their needs are met.
What is this nominee’s involvement in senior care or senior issues
Her highest qualities are dedication and compassion. She focuses on helping the elderly and praising and educating the caregivers she manages to ensure that everyone is happy and feels supported. She has developed excellent relationships with the adult children of her clients due to her consistent efforts to communicate through weekly updates about their loved ones’ status. She manages many difficult cases, always keeping the best interest of the clients at heart. This is not just a job to Angie, she enjoys visiting her clients.
Angie goes the extra mile daily but she does one thing every year at that is very special: Every Christmas, she goes out of her way spending numerous of hours making special homemade gifts and gives them to her associated resources and some of her clients. This truly is a labor of love. No wonder they love her!
Angie is an energetic and positive person and has been very involved in the senior care community. She loves her work. Through her education in Gerontology combined with her caring heart Angie brings a wealth of knowledge and insight to seniors and their families, greatly easing their stress. She is deserving of this award for giving 110 % in protecting and providing quality care to the elderly, managing and providing excellent caregivers and resources to families.
