Why should this person be nominated? (What makes nominee unique; why should they be selected the winner of this category?
Linda Walton works for the Council on Aging-Orange County Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program (HICAP). As a HICAP Counselor and Limited Income Assistance Coordinator, Linda has helped seniors in our community save more than $1,000,000 in medical and prescription costs. Prior to working for HICAP, Linda volunteered for the Long-Term Care Ombudsman program and gave a voice to the many nursing home residents that need protection from abuse and mistreatment. Before coming to the Council, she worked as a Director of Nursing for a hospital where she acquired skills that she now applies to helping seniors get the benefits that they need to have a better quality of life.


What is this nominee’s involvement in senior care or senior issues
Linda Walton should be selected the winner of this category because she helps the most vulnerable without self-interest or for business. She is sincerely happy for her clients when they are able to access programs that make their lives better. She never forgets her clients and keeps in touch with them after she has completed her work with them. She is a tough leader that questions the status quo and does her best to make a real change that helps others.
