What is this nominee’s involvement in senior care or senior issues
When I first met Heather about 5 years ago I could not help but to feel at ease. She is like a breath of fresh air. Over the years I have come to call Heather my friend, and honestly I do not know how she manages everything that she does. I remember one day at lunch we were talking about our businesses; as she was sharing a story about her clients, I realized that she was still personally going out on her own assessments to meet most (if not all) of her clients and families for the first time. She says it is because she wants to make sure she understands them and their needs. I cannot honestly say that I have heard of an owner (after so many years) stay on the front lines as she does. I am not kidding, it is like she cannot help herself. It is not only the fact she goes out to meet them, but in the way she speaks about each one of her seniors; it is like they are truly a member of HER family. I hope when the day comes to look for a caregiver for my dad, that I find someone as genuine, caring and loving as her. Not only does she make sure her seniors are cared for, she is also the care giving rock for her family. She helps wherever she is needed when it comes to caring for her parents.
In addition to being the comforting spirit to her family of clients, and her own family; she hosts a caregiver support group for caregivers in her community. Helping them to understand, share and receive training and education. A true inspiration to the group of caregivers she helps. The group Heather hosts gives them support to continue to care for their loved ones the way they need to be cared for.
In addition, Heather volunteers with SeniorServ (Meals on Wheels) by helping on numerous projects over the years. She volunteered her company to potentially start a homecare meals on wheels program, served on the 2012 Senior Care Hero Awards Committee and continues to support SeniorServ with advocacy and service...
Did I mention she is also a mother and a wife!? If God ever gave someone a heart of gold, it would be Heather! I have never heard her complain in a bitter way, I have never heard her say she cannot help someone, and I have yet to be in the same room with her and not get a warm hug. Can you imagine having a heart as big as hers?
Heather, Thank you for being not only an inspiration, but for being a true example of Gods love for us. You are an amazing woman! I hope to become half of the loving spirit you are!
You are truly the definition of a Senior Care Hero!
