Position: Friendly Visitor Volunteer

Why should this person be nominated? (What makes nominee unique; why should they be selected the winner of this category?
Elizabeth Bennett has served as a Friendly Visitor volunteer at the Council on Aging Orange County since January 2010. Elizabeth’s unique ability to understand the needs of our vulnerable population is evident in her patient, caring and compassionate interaction with our participants. She is a passionate volunteer who cares deeply about our participants and assist them however she can.


What is this nominee’s involvement in senior care or senior issues

Elizabeth comes each week to the office to make reassurance calls to our participants. Each week she actively engages participants in positive conversations through our Reassurance Calls program. By making weekly phone visitations, Elizabeth is able to brighten the day of our lonely seniors in Orange County. Elizabeth has been a tremendous asset to our Friendly Visitor Program for the past 3 years and we are so lucky to have a volunteer like Elizabeth. She is a shining example of what our Friendly Visitor volunteers represent.
In addition to volunteering for the Friendly Visitor Program, Elizabeth also dedicated her time and talents to the Health Insurance Counseling Program (HICAP) and is involved in many other volunteer activities outside Council on Aging Orange County.
