Why should this person be nominated? (What makes nominee unique; why should they be selected the winner of this category?
Cheryl Meronk began her career in aging services at the Council on Aging – Orange County in 2002. While pursuing her Masters Degree in Gerontology at Cal State Fullerton, she served as Program Director of the Council’s HICAP (Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program. During her tenure in that position Medicare Part D was introduced, the largest change to the Medicare program in over 40 years. Cheryl successfully managed that change in Medicare benefits for thousands of Orange County's older adults.
In 2007, Cheryl was appointed CEO of the Council on Aging. Under her leadership, the Council grew and prospered. Cheryl is an innovator and is highly collaborative.
Today, Cheryl is Director of Community Outreach for SCAN Health Plan. In her current position Cheryl is still impacting the lives of thousands of seniors
What is this nominee’s involvement in senior care or senior issues
Cheryl is an advocate for all older adults with extremely positive results, but Cheryl has a special heart for minority older adults and ensures they are not overlooked when advocacy and needs of the aging community are addressed.
Cheryl is not only a talented administrator, but she has a caring heart.
