Why should this person be nominated? (What makes nominee unique; why should they be selected the winner of this category?
Julie has been a 27 year advocate for seniors during her tenure at the Council on Aging - Orange County. She is passionate about the need to support seniors in our community and a vocal spokesperson on the topic of preventing elder abuse.

What is this nominee’s involvement in senior care or senior issues
Julie is a recognized expert and educator on the topics of Financial Elder Abuse and Medicare. She regularly conducts educational sessions on both topics throughout the county and in the process has built heightened awareness among seniors in the community about protecting themselves from financial abuse. She has also provided consistent support to seniors on maximizing their Medicare benefits while controlling their costs, coupled with extensive legal assistance on Medicare appeals. In her work with the Senior Medicare Patrol, she has helped to recognize and combat Medicare fraud and abuse in the community. Her outstanding support to seniors in the community has been unwavering for over 27 years.
