2018 Nominees Section
Position: Executive Director
Organization: Irvine Cottages
What role does your nominee have in senior care and senior care issues?
Alejandra "Alex" Valle, LVN is easily the most compassionate and loyal person we know, the kind who goes out of her way to help seniors every day. As Executive Director and RCFE Administrator at Irvine Cottages Memory Care, she is dependable and works tirelessly, often long days running 12 RCFE facilities. She has worked in the health care industry for over 22 years, training as a CNA, RNA and LVN and brings with her years of experience and knowledge. When she is not caring for her family and the Irvine Cottages residents and families, she devotes time to continuing to learn about Alzheimer’s disease and dementia attending seminars and training classes at the Alzheimer’s Association OC and UCI Mind to name just a few. She has close relationships with members of the Alzheimer’s Association and is often seen participating in and attending fundraising events and galas to assist in raising money to continue Alzheimer’s/dementia research and to aid seniors locally.
Why should this person be nominated
Alex’s leadership, knowledge, innovative and positive family-centered approach have shaped and impacted many of us who have worked alongside her for the past 6 years at Irvine Cottages. We are honored to have the opportunity to learn from Alex, and look to her as a role model for what we want to be in the future. She is an honest and dedicated professional and we cannot think of another person who is more deserving of an award because, simply put, Alex is an extraordinary Executive Director.
Alex never ceases to amaze us. We can vouch for her determination, motivation, hard work and effectiveness. She is a wise counselor, a self-starter, a standard bearer of integrity and civility and is respected throughout the company. It is rare to come across a person who is so attentive to all the details. Alex never hesitates to take on any challenge or difficult tasks and also makes sure that the tasks get resolved and/or completed. She sees a problem, she jumps right in and looks for a solution. She goes above and beyond her call of duty and her skills are not limited to the working space, she is able to work under pressure and always manages to solve stressful situations while always projecting a warm, cheerful attitude to our residents and families. We have seen her resolve conflicts and handle other difficult situations with remarkable patience and admirable tact.
Being exceptional is often unusual as most of us are usually busy doing our daily jobs to our best ability, but Alex breaks the mold and is beyond exceptional. Alex was recently praised by a family member for going above and beyond in their loved ones care. Being an advocate for him, for his rights and ensuring that he was receiving the best care possible in his situation. Alex lent a comforting hand in the care process even when the resident was not able to come back to the facility. Full of energy and always with a smile on her face, she tirelessly followed up with the nurses and case managers, visiting him often and remaining in constant contact with the family with updates, along with positive and helpful suggestions for his long road forward. She showed great compassion, was respectful of his needs and dedicated in assisting them in making the right choices and decisions for their loved one.
She loves people, works hard, and always tries to lift the spirits of those around her. We believe these characteristics represent all that is good in our company, and we would be honored if Alex was chosen as the 2018 Outstanding Executive Director of the year winner. We hope our nomination illustrates how much Alex has touched us, inspired us, and is really an example of what every RCFE Employee should strive to be. Her unparalleled dedication is exemplified time and again, along with her dependability, flexibility and efficiency. Plain and simple, Alex just wants to make sure the clients are cared for and continue to do what she believes she is called to do, which is care for others and make a difference in their lives. Her commitment is real and a difference maker in the improvement of Irvine Cottages and she is so deserving of this award.
